UW Bothell Institutional Planning and Budget (IPB) and Administration and Planning (AP) has an outstanding opportunity for an Analyst.
The Analyst will be a dual report position, reporting to the Senior Director of IPB and Vice Chancellor of AP. This three year position will provide expertise and support to UW Bothell leadership and staff to successfully phase in a new budget model, called Modified Responsibility Centered Management. The position will collaborate with the Institutional Planning & Budget (IPB) team to address budget and fiscal needs in relation to the campus operating budgets. Perform complex technical financial forecasting and reporting as well as regularly support dean, school administrators, unit managers and other fiscal staff to create business plans, review unit budgets, answer questions, and provide analytical support and training.
The Analyst will report to the Senior Director of IPB and the Vice Chancellor of Planning and Administration to ensure campus financial goals are met through sustainable business practices and fiscal responsibility.
Perform complex fiscal analysis in support of institutional and School/Unit financial reporting, revenue modeling & projections and analysis related to short-term and long-term institutional planning.
Provide analysis and recommendation to support the institutional and School/Unit objectives and business practices through ad hoc project requests in a detailed and timely manner.
Develop or coordinate, and provide training for Deans, Administrators and Unit Manager and Fiscal Staff on creating and monitoring budgets, use of tools, and systems.
Develop timelines and combine department budgets into UW Bothell's Operating and Capital Budget.
Research best practices for budget development and management, recommend and implement as requested.
Perform key role in the annual campus-wide and School/Unit budget planning and implementation process and in short-term and long-term institutional and unit planning processes. These include creating budget models, allocation of School/Unit and institutional funds.
Create best budget policies and procedures consistent with recognized best practices.
Provide support of wide ranging ad hoc requests received by the IPB office. Including short-term and long-term analysis to support institution and School/Unit level requests focused on budget and financial operations.
Provide analytical support to leadership, faculty and staff on budgetary resources.
Independently source and validate financial, HR/payroll and budget data. Responsible for independent trouble shooting of data solutions and pursuing reliable data systems and solutions to support analysis.

Bachelor's degree in Finance, Computer Science, Management Information Systems, or a related field.
At least 3 years' related experience in building complex and/or large financial models through Excel or other database systems.
Advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
Training skills, one to one, small and large groups on variety of topics from general to highly specific.
Ability to obtain, analyze, interpret data and prepare reports.
Basic to Intermediate knowledge of common Enterprise Data Warehouse navigation and structure. Experiencing in direct sourcing of data from SQL server and EDW system.
Expertise with Microsoft 365 suite.
Ability to create PowerPoint and other graphic presentations.
Experience in business plan development and analysis.
Knowledge of common accounting principles, terminology and processes.
Ability to work with a wide range of people at all levels demonstrating openness, flexibility and interpersonal skills.
Proactive, creative, and efficient problem solver in ambiguous and fluid situations.

Work space is in an open workspace environment. This position may need to work beyond or outside of a typical 40 hour work week.
