The Brown University Division of Advancement seeks qualified applicants for the position of Development Associate.
This position will provide an advanced level of direct administrative support to 1 or 2 directors. The position will assist in advancing cultivation, solicitation and stewardship goals of the director(s) as well as providing support to two academic programs and their Advisory Councils on behalf of Brown Universityâ??s Division of Advancement. This position requires a personable, energetic individual who is eager to contribute through excellent interpersonal and written communication skills and project management skills. This position requires collaborative interactions with members within the Division as well as with deans, directors, faculty and staff within academic departments across campus as well as interactions with Brown volunteers and donors.
The Development Associate proactively manages projects, schedules travel/meeting arrangements for the director (s), Deans/faculty as appropriate, and Advisory Councils, maintains the proposal pipeline, gathers/maintains data and assists in preparing paper/electronic reports using a variety of computer software, drafts high level correspondence and briefings, prepares regular correspondence, acknowledgements, and mailings, conducts research, facilitates event planning logistics both on and off campus for large and small scale events, and provides technical and logistical support to the officers/director.

Experience in a higher-education, fundraising, or non-profit setting highly desirable.
Bachelorâ??s degree and two years of relevant experience (development, sales, customer relations and administrative), or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Strong organizational and interpersonal skills.
Strong project/time management skills preferred.
Must be detail-oriented and have an ability to handle and complete multiple projects concurrently.
Demonstrated ability with computer software programs including but not limited to, word processing, spreadsheets, FileMaker Pro databases. Use of Google applications as well as Microsoft Office products, specifically Excel and Word, is required. Knowledge of BSR Advance and Blackbaud preferred. Experience with fundraising contact management platforms desirable.
Proven ability to analyze data, research information, problem-solve, and coordinate projects.
Must have a degree of computer proficiency and Information Management Skills to carry out the major responsibilities of this position.
Excellent written and oral communication skills required; enjoys working with people and possess skills necessary for building relationships with external (donors, prospects, trustees) and internal constituents (deans, directors, faculty, staff); highly collaborative approach.
