Industrial Hygiene (IH) Laboratory Manager is responsible for leading the work team in the analysis of organic and inorganic parameters on industrial hygiene sample matrices. IH Laboratory Manager focuses on providing technical competency, capability, capacity, and effective resource utilization while providing necessary quality and quantity for industrial hygiene sample analyses. Provide technical guidance within WHL Industrial Hygiene group, providing assistance to less experienced scientists and Laboratory Technicians. Initiate programs to improve work processes.
Directing the performance of the work scope for the technical discipline of responsibility.
Managing and overseeing all direct reports.
Ensuring staff members are properly trained, are informed, have access to properly functioning tools and equipment, and fit-for-duty prior to doing assigned work.
Providing status within the technical discipline of responsibility to the Laboratory Manager and other organizations, as requested.
Providing support and input to support laboratory priorities as a member of the core management team.
Perform periodic workplace inspections to ensure that is free from unmitigated hazards and unnecessary exposures and meets housekeeping standards.
Assist in the budget process for the organization, including preparing, reporting against, and operating within department budgets.
Provide technical guidance within the subject matter area, providing assistance to less experienced scientists, laboratory technicians, and other organizations within Analytical Chemistry and analytical services.
Reinforce ISMS, VPP, EMS, HPI, and Conduct of Operations processes, values, and behaviors in work performed in the radiochemistry group.

Provide leadership and motivation in directing analytical activities
Coach and direct the technical activities of chemists and chemical technologists, including training and oversight of analytical activities and production.
This job operates in a professional office environment, however requires direct participation with activities in a Category III Nuclear facility. This role routinely uses equipment necessary to perform laboratory analysis including: GCMS, ICPMS, ICP and IC; in addition to standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines.
Required Education and Experience
Minimum of Bachelor of Science degree in Chemistry or related science
Minimum of 8 years industrial hygiene analysis experience
Experience in an accredited AIHA analytical laboratory
