Our Firmwide Practice Services department has an opportunity for a Business Analyst in either our Cleveland, Columbus, Atlanta or Washington, D.C. Office. The Business Analyst will champion the development of innovative technologies and processes to help the Firm better serve its clients and create a competitive advantage. This role will support key projects and initiatives focusing on three major themes: Blockchains, Artificial Intelligence, and Data Analytics. Overall goal is to help define the concept of legal engineering across all aspects of the practice of law and provide support to attorneys and staff in expanding knowledge in key areas of advanced technology by developing curriculum, workshops, and/or continuing legal education courses. Assist in the ideation process of transforming legal services with advanced technology. Specific duties include the following:
Improve the Firm’s utilization of the Legal Innovation Research Platform and facilitating exchange of information across attorneys, clients, and staff.
Direct strategies to promote effective use of services by making resources easily accessible and by providing training across offices and departments.
Identify, evaluate and recommend best in class advanced technology tools that align with the strategic imperatives of the Firm and provide attorneys with opportunities to increase efficiency when serving clients.
Lead collaborative initiatives that develop creative solutions and improve sharing of ideas and work among internal teams and external partners.
Ensure expertise in technology relevant to the position.
Proactively use most current technology to further teamwork, client service, and efficiency.
Use of data analysis, external benchmarking and other appropriate tools and techniques.
Manage projects to include project planning and requirement specifications.
Bachelor’s degree, J.D., and at least five years of related experience required; Law firm experience highly desirable.
Strong understanding of advanced technologies and trends in the industry as they pertain to law firms; demonstrated knowledge of the range of technologies available to deliver superior legal services.
Project management experience, carrying projects through the entire lifecycle, and process improvement experience essential.
Interpersonal communication skills necessary in order to maintain effective relationships with attorneys, clients and staff in person, by e-mail and telephone. Strong verbal and written communication skills.
Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios and proportions to practical situations.
Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
Experience using online Project Management tools and strong working knowledge of the Microsoft Office Suite. Excellent analytical, problem-solving, customer relations and communication skills, along with the ability to work well in a team environment.
