Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering or related field and 2 years of experience in the installation, trouble shooting and support of data networks or equivalent combination of education and experience, with excellent written/oral communication, organizational and analytical skills required. Proficiency with installing network devices, maintaining network closets, and familiarization with modifying switch parameters strongly preferred. Must have own transportation for the purpose of visiting off-site locations.
Job Standard / Operational Needs: The Network Technician will be responsible for installing network routers, network switches, wireless access points, and other network equipment in locations throughout Upstate Medical University campuses and remote locations, as well as installing and documenting data wiring cross-connects to support network moves, adds, changes. The Network Technician will also assist with reconfiguring end user workstations (PC and Macintosh) to reflect changes in network configurations and assist Network Engineers in troubleshooting complex network problems related to network component changes, faults, and failures, as well as participate in planning of network infrastructure in new clinical and office space.
