Job Requisition Number: 23697. The Student Learning Center is a global learning community where student scholars convene to discover, uncover, and recover ideas, concepts, languages and cultures. Since 1973, it has been the primary academic unit on campus tasked with providing peer-led support services to Cal undergraduates. It has served approximately 80,000 students in its forty-year history, with a little more than 9,500 students in the 2014-2015 academic year alone. The Center?s work has been at the forefront of increasing and maintaining the University?s retention and graduation rates, which are the highest in the UC system and in the top three of higher-learning institutions in the nation. The Student Learning Center belongs to the Division of Undergraduate Education.
This is a 100% contract position for the academic years 2017-2018, 2018-2019 and 2019- 2020.
The SLC Summer Bridge Coordinator assists the director in the administration of the Summer Bridge Program, from managing the daily operations of the program to supervising a staff of 25-30 undergraduate/graduate students. Specifically, the incumbent will: ?Deliver established academic support services in Summer Bridge ?Assist with supervision and training of 25-30 Summer Bridge Ambassadors ?Assist with the coordination of daily program operations from outreach and data management to website maintenance. ?Support the development of outreach and recruitment materials, phone-banking protocols, ?Manage the outreach and recruitment process from March ?Provide key administrative support for program Director and program e.g. compelling social media ?Present and facilitate small and large group discussions and informational for parents and students field studies courses on peer pedagogy for undergraduate tutors ?Administer established formative and summative evaluation tools to enhance delivery of academic support models and services in Summer Bridge. ?Maintains knowledge of course offerings and departmental contacts ?Collaborate with designated faculty, departmental staff and the Program Director to address changes needed in the effective delivery of summer services. ?Develop effective working relationships with campus partners to ascertain and meet student needs ?Provide direct service to students seeking to enroll in summer transition programs and services. ?Serve students in navigating the critical transition points into the university, assist students with Student Information Systems, critical gateway services (e.g. Cal-central, academic counseling, housing and residential services) ?Plan, organize and facilitate weekly program partner meetings ?Provide all the administrative support for the Summer programming. ?Plan. organize and deliver the end of the program banquet.?Bachelor's degree or equivalent knowledge of research university functions ?Knowledge of multiple learning styles, affective, socio-cultural and linguistic issues as they apply to academic support ?Knowledge of academic and curricular issues as they apply to academic support. ?Knowledge and experience working with diverse groups of students, staff, and faculty ?Strong oral and written communication skills; strong interpersonal skills. ?Good judgment; keen professional acumen ?Proficient computer skills, including experience using the Google Suite and Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel and/or Access This position is a full-time, 3-year contract role with full UC Benefits.
