The Data Services Platform Manager works with the director to set the overall technical direction of analytic data services platform that includes the enterprise data warehouse. Provides technical, hands-on leadership to ETL developers and coordinates the work of technical leads, developers and architects to effectively deliver an enterprise data warehouse and the associated analytic data platform. Participates in all aspects of data services projects including conceptualization, design, development, testing, selection, deployment, and post-implementation support. Provides expertise in current developments in data warehousing, big data and analytic tools and technologies in information delivery space and implements best practices in applying those technologies and tools. Works with IT colleagues to ensure that university technical standards, procedures and policies are defined and adhered to. Assesses hardware and software platforms related to the design, implementation, and performance of data warehousing and data analytics systems.
This role collaborates with the departmental leadership team to define common approaches for project management and technical implementation processes. Approves appropriate project scope. Ensures adherence to quality standards and reviews project deliverables. Manages the integration of consulting resources and controls to monitor their effectiveness. Responsible for direct supervision of six developers, ensuring appropriate work assignments, scheduling and training.

Ensure appropriate technical resource allocation to meet project and institutional objectives.
Oversee annual performance excellence process for technical resources, ensuring accurate review and appropriate identification of training and professional development opportunities.
Collaborate with departmental leadership team to define project management approaches, standards and tools using a continuous improvement approach.
Approve appropriate project scope and objectives.
Manages the integration of consulting resources and controls to monitor their effectiveness.
Resolve barriers to project success.
Ensure quality standards and accurate documentation of work products.
Partner with IT governance structures, peers and business partners to establish and manage department project portfolio in alignment with strategic direction and business initiatives.
Support implementation of Northwestern IT strategic initiatives.
Provide oversight for project prioritization, scheduling, staffing and adherence to deadlines.
Establish and maintain strong working relationships with primary business partners. Identify and implement achievable technology solutions to offer an integrated data platform for enabling reporting and analytics to meet business objectives.
Collaborate with other technology groups to ensure coordination of services and shared activities.
Drive collaboration with peers to enable effective information sharing, cross team collaboration and propagation of shared standards
Lead the continuous enhancement and support of the data services platform.
Bachelor’s Degree or appropriate combination of education and experience.
9 or more years of relevant experience.
