Position Summary: We have an exciting opportunity to join our team as a FGP Sr Medical Secretary (35).
In this role, the successful candidate Responsible for providing basic support services for Neurosurgery outpatient practice intake operations. Assist with pre/post-visit inter-departmental scheduling for visits, treatments, and surgical procedures in collaboration with other areas within the Medical Center, specifically as it relates to Surgical procedures and scheduling. Obtains pre-authorizations/LOAs/certifications for treatments and diagnostic procedures as appropriate. Provides guidance to less senior staff and assist with completion of special projects, reports and activities as requested.
Perform all front-desk duties of checking-in/out patients, collecting co-pays, and verifying EPIC information. Answer phone calls to screen for appropriateness to our service Screening of patients in collaboration with supervising mid-level personnel
Verify insurance and payment source(s) for par vs non-par visits; obtain necessary clearance when needed Fill out EPIC registration and practice questionnaire for all patients
Confirm all appointments Schedule pre-surgical testing for all surgical candidates, following up with surgical procedures appointments
Maintain faculty academic and clinical calendars Book faculty conferences, submit business/travel expense reports for reimbursement
Professional communication with patients, mid-level and faculty clinical personnel. Be ready to cross-train to provide coverage for other staff when necessary.

To qualify you must have a High School diploma (Bachelor's degree is preferred) and three years of relevant medical clerical experience. Must include prior physician practice experience and knowledge of medical terminology. Background in computer literacy preferred. Light, accurate keyboarding skills required. Excellent organizational, interpersonal and communications skills are required.
Knowledge of EPIC and other computer-based scheduling and appointment programs. Excellent telephone skills for customer service. Team work and collaboration.
