Overview: Northwest CASA is a certified sexual assault center that provides comprehensive sexual assault services to survivors of sexual violence. We have a team of 16 staff professionals, 3 graduate school interns, 2 volunteer counselors and 33 crisis hotline volunteers who provide these services to survivors living in north/northwest suburban Cook County and McHenry County. Northwest CASA operates 3 offices: in Arlington Heights, Crystal Lake and Evanston.
The chief responsibility of this position is to develop the volunteer program for Northwest CASA's 24/7 crisis hotline response to sexual assault victims living in north/northwest suburban Cook county and McHenry County seeking emergency assistance. Secondarily, this position provides medical and criminal justice advocacy two days a week out of our Crystal Lake office.
Volunteer Coordinator: This position is responsible for the development of the volunteer program at Northwest CASA. Volunteers are used to assist in our 24/7 telephone crisis hotline and 24/7 response to hospital emergency rooms when a sexual assault victim seeks out medical care. Responsible for the recruitment, training, supervision, scheduling and management of volunteers providing 24/7 crisis line in both McHenry County and north/northwest suburban Cook County. Assume shifts that are not covered by volunteers and serve as primary back up to each volunteer. Ensure that volunteers document services provided per agency policy. Currently Northwest CASA has 33 hotline volunteers.
Advocate in McHenry County: Provide medical and criminal justice advocacy in McHenry county two days a week. Provide information and support to survivors of sexual violence and their significant others at local hospitals. Provide follow up contact to surviors of sexual violence within 48 hours of first contact. Oversee 6 month follow survey of clients who received crisis services. Provide assistance and support to surviors of sexual violence throughout the criminal justice process including CNCO's and Orders of Protection.
We are looking for an individual who has:
Bachelor's degree in human services, psychology or criminal justice field. Volunteer management experience preferred or experience working with volunteers. Experience working with survivors of sexual violence preferred.
Ability to deal sensitively with victims of sexual assault/abuse and their significant others.
Excellent interpersonal skills.
Ability to work a flexible schedule and open to being on call 24/7 when needed.
Knowledge of sexual violence issues and the criminal justice system.
Ability to work independently and be a team player working closely with two advocates and nine counselors on staff.
Good self care strategy.

Northwest CASA provides specialized counseling, in English and Spanish, for sexual assault survivors of all ages. Counselors have masters degrees in counseling or social work and specialized training to work with victims of sexual violence.
Northwest CASA provides 24/7 crisis intervention services (888-802-8890) and 24/7 medical and criminal justice advocacy services.
Our public education program goes into the classrooms of our local schools and gives students information and skills that reduce their risk for victimization.
