Develops the EH&S Training Services strategy to identify the critical goals and objectives of this service over the next 3-5 years and beyond. This includes recommendations and a plan for EH&S to become best in class with its eLearning tools and systems and integration of training programs with all EHS management programs. Develops and submits a comprehensive strategic plan for EHS training as part of an overall management system strategy.
Oversees the maintenance and development of EH&S courses in the Harvard Training Portal learning management system as a System Administrator. This includes establishing and leading an internal Technical Support process and service for users of this system.
Collaborates with EH&S program managers, to develop a best-in-class classroom and web-based training programs as a component of Harvard's overall EHS management. Utilizes state of art applications to create an interactive web-based eLearning environment for lab and facilities personnel. Establishes internal business rules and standards for training program content development and quality.
Establish and manage a means of tracking training effectiveness, development of metrics for training and other management system components, and standards for- and actual reporting of- EHS training performance for both customers and senior management.
Works with EHS managers to establish training requirements for EH&S department professionals, including evaluating and building key competencies, and improving opportunities for inter-disciplinary cross-training.
Leverage opportunities to connect to academic and non-academic components of the University with EH&S training programs (e.g. EH&S training institute, eLearning, etc.) and further enhance our mission of supporting teaching and research and operations of the University.
Participates in the EH&S Webpage and social media design/content development to enhance their use.
Collects stakeholder feedback and uses a deliberative process to adapt EHS management and training strategy accordingly. Participates in technology decision making such as requirements development, build or buy decisions, etc.
Experiments with and innovates on EHS programs with the goal of learning what works better, faster, more efficiently, with increased quality and customer satisfaction. Identifies priority areas to focus business experimentation and innovation activity.
Works with department stakeholders to develop and implement an EHS internal mentoring program.
This position is a key role in the development of University Environment, Health, and Safety (EHS) management systems and specifically leads and manages the EH&S training systems program. This position is responsible for the development, delivery, tracking and effectiveness of EH&S training for the entire University community including EH&S key customers – research & teaching labs, building and facilities operations, administrative support and senior managers. The position works with a cross disciplinary team of EH&S and University professionals to build and maintain state of the art classroom, eLearning, and blended training solutions. The position supports other EH&S systems development and implementation including, but not limited to, the EH&S website and EH&S management system. The position is an important participant in the overall EHS management system and assures leveraging, integration, and collaboration of all EHS training with assessments, inspections, metrics, reporting, corrective actions, and innovation to assure a seamless and customer service oriented program is developed and continuously improved.

Minimum of 7 years of EH&S -related experience both practical and theoretical based in industrial / institutional safety and environmental management.Strong experience in the development, delivery of classroom and web-based training programs, as well as database tracking systems. Strong knowledge of EH&S programs and systems.
Expertise in training return on investment analysis, elements of instructional design, continuous improvement including quality improvement techniques, and overall EHS management system development is highly desired.
BS or BA in occupational safety, environmental science or related field or an equivalency of professional training, certifications and work experience.
A strong working knowledge of federal, state and local occupational health, safety and environmental regulations.
Excellent oral and written communication skills, including training program delivery. Project management experience in building excellent rapport with clients and team members. Able to see the big picture, delegate effectively and motivate team members to achieve on-time project completion.
Ability to work in a fast-paced operations environment, handling multiple assignments for independent operating units.
Proven ability to successfully manage complex programs; demonstration of the skills necessary to successfully initiate, plan, execute, and close complex projects and effectively lead project teams that may include senior management.
Must have excellent behavioral competencies such as strong customer service orientation and organization skills, an attention to detail, a strong sense of accountability, a bias for action, a high level of integrity, diplomacy, advocacy, self-confidence, and resourcefulness.
A professional certification (e.g. CET/CSP/CHMM/CIH/PE, etc.) is preferred.
Experience with Web and social media tools and platforms is preferred.
Experience with building and integrating management system components such as assessments, training systems, inspection/ feedback programs, and data and metrics originators.
