Harvard University Information Technology (HUIT) is seeking a Senior APEX Developer to work in an innovative and dynamic development team that collaboratively develops and maintains sophisticated web-based applications and associated infrastructure in support of the Faculty of Arts and Sciences administrative departments. These applications span a variety of fields across the academic administration spectrum.
The key responsibilities include the following:
Ensuring the successful delivery of new systems along with support for and augmentation of existing systems.
Play a key role in executing all phases of development from planning, requirements gathering, and design to implementation, testing, deployment, and ongoing maintenance.
Utilize superior analytical and problem-solving skills to bridge the gap between product stakeholders and development teams to discover and communicate true business requirements and product needs.
Evolution of existing systems, concentrating on complexity reduction while creating rich user experiences and a more adaptive, maintainable and supportable platform as opportunities arise.
Balance multiple concurrent development initiatives, mixing new development and application maintenance and support, with a strong commitment to delivering workable solutions with a high level of customer satisfaction.
Be comfortable as both a leader and collaborator as projects require.
Implement Agile development practices, balancing the right levels of grooming, planning, design, implementation/testing and deployment across regular sprint schedules.
Design, implement, and iterate end-to-end application data models.
Oversee identification and resolution of systems issues.
Understand and ensure compliance with University and industry standards for security, privacy, and accessibility.
Continually advocate for and support the adoption of application development design, implementation, testing, deployment, and documentation standards best practices.

In order to be considered for this role, applicants must meet the following basic qualifications:
Bachelor's degree or equivalent in Computer Science, Engineering, Computer Information Systems or similar technical discipline.
The following skills are preferred, but not required:
5+ years of experience as an Oracle APEX web application developer or software engineer in a client focused organization, including application development, web application development tools, relational database technology, web server technologies
Fundamental understanding of database design and implementation.
Experience developing with jQuery.
Experience with database specific test automation.
Understanding of Continuous Integration principles and implementation versioning, automated build and deployment, and team integration (Git, Jenkins, RecX ApexSec).
Experience developing REST-based Web Services.
Strong aptitude and a desire to learn and mentor others in the use of new technologies and tools. Curiosity is encouraged.
Ability to handle multiple priorities simultaneously in a dynamic team environment.
Ability to manage time effectively and meet deadlines.
Experience working with Agile software development framework, preferably scrum.
Proven ability to work collaboratively and across boundaries to continually improve processes, products, and services with a strong focus on quality and customer service.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
