The Infrastructure Security Engineer will work with various teams of HUIT Infrastructure Technology Services and other Harvard Schools and departments to perform vulnerability assessment, design and deploy endpoint security, proxy settings, monitor and analyze security logs, analyzing security alerts and coordinating patch management, and troubleshoot and resolve technical issues related to security.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities:
Provide infrastructure operational security support for Infrastructure Technology Services which includes accurate identification, documentation, and testing of security controls for system assessment.
Perform security analysis and design, develop, and implement security solutions for both on-prem and cloud infrastructures.
Perform security assessment as requested by various teams within HUIT.
Install, configure, maintain, and upgrade systems software and hardware in support of the Infrastructure team's security services.
Acts as a subject matter expert and engineering resource for security remediation projects, incident response activities, and forensics information gathering
Research, recommend, implement, and support security infrastructure solutions that support Harvard's mission of enabling teaching, learning, and research.
Working with all the Infrastructure teams, ensure that comprehensive monitoring (availability, performance, capacity utilization, etc) of all network security environments is in place
Interface within HUIT to gather requirements, collaborate on solutions, and prioritize projects; interface as needed as a consultant/advisor to non-HUIT University IT organizations as relates to our infrastructure security services
Ensure that adequate documentation exists and is maintained for all core infrastructure security systems and actively shares knowledge with the team and the broader IT Infrastructure organization
Establish and maintain operational processes and procedures that improve efficiencies and performance
Perform the daily execution of operational security duties that addresses above mentioned infrastructure security issues, audit readiness, and compliance requirements within defined SLA.

A degree in information security assurance, computer science, computer information systems or mathematics and/or equivalent years of work experience is required.
Minimum of 2 years progressive experience in Information Security.
Highly Desired Qualifications:
Technical knowledge of systems security infrastructure, such as IDS, IPS, DLP, proxy servers, tap, and/or logging/SIEM solutions
Excellent communication skills and technical writing ability.
Strong consulting skills and ability to work with other teams to find common solutions or coordinate cross-discipline activities
Excellent ability to manage through influence and negotiation.
Experience with Cloud, SaaS, IaaS, or PaaS
Experience in designing networks or systems for high availability, security, manageability, and reliability
Demonstrated experience with Information Security Incident response processes
Advanced analysis and troubleshooting skills
Familiar with DevOps and/or DevSecOps methodologies
Ability to automate/script tasks through Bash, Python or equivalent programming languages.
Knowledge of Tenable Security Center, BlueCoat Proxy, CarbonBlack, Symantec, and Splunk
Security-related certification – CISSP, CTIA, OSCP, GPEN, CEH a plus.
Broad knowledge and understanding of emerging technologies, technology trends and their applicability in a university setting.
