The Office of General Counsel at MSK is expanding and seeking an Assistant General Counsel to join their team. Focusing on litigation, this new position will support several areas of the organization including, but not limited to, Risk, Compliance, Human Resources, medical malpractice, and Intellectual Property disputes.
As the Assistant General Counsel you are:

You will be responsible for the following:
Legal consultation: Respond to, evaluate and offer opinions concerning legal issues raised by clinical, administrative, and business staff.
Legal research/response: Research and respond to complaints, issues raised by patients, families, physicians, external legal counsel, and MSKCC staff/departments
Malpractice insurance: Manage the provision of information regarding individual practitioners’ insurance coverage and claims history.
Professional Liability and General Liability litigation: Participate in the defense of assigned potential/actual professional liability and general liability claims and commercial disputes. Represent or assist in the representation of physicians and other MSK staff in legal action, including non-party depositions. Analyze and suggest appropriate responses to subpoenas with relevant hospital departments/services. Conduct legal and medical research and in-house investigations on occurrences and claims.
Intellectual Property (IP) litigation: Support team with intellectual property litigation matters, including administrative proceedings; assist with discovery, outside counsel management, and legal expenses management.
HR Legal & Regulatory: Support team with employment law matters, including litigation, administrative proceedings and internal investigations.
Maintain and enhance professional growth and development through professional associations to keep abreast of changes and trends in field of expertise and to assist with quality improvement.
A Juris Doctorate, member of the New York bar, and a minimum of 4 years of litigation experience, preferably in a law firm.
Healthcare, science, or clinical trial experience is a plus.
