Perform a variety of semi-skilled and unskilled tasks in the maintenance and repair of buildings and related facilities and equipment. May work independently, as part of a regular maintenance crew, or as an assistant to a skilled tradesman. Duties include but are not limited to: installing fire extinguishers and blackboards; cleaning roofs and patio drains, piping, clearing stoppages in sinks and toilets, but are not limited to, repairing industrial appliances, disposals, pumps, heating systems, interior/exterior lighting, soldering and pipefitting,. Responsible for trouble shooting maintenance problems and managing/completing preventative computerized maintenance work orders via TMA preventive maintenance system and handheld technologies.Provide customer service to all customers through the year. Work may be dispatched by Facilities administration dispatcher, Central Utilities Plant, and/or maintenance supervisors.
Two (2) years of experience in theperformance of semi-skilled buildingmaintenance work, or one (1) year as aBuilding Maintenance Worker; or anequivalent combination of education andexperience.
Ability to read technical instruction manualsand drawings. Knowledge and ability towork in a safe manner according to local,federal, state, and university requirements.
Knowledge and ability to use soft solderingequipment.
Knowledge and ability to useelectrical multi-meter and amp probe.
Ability to test electrical wall switches andreceptacles for normal operations.
Ability torepair free-standing light fixtures.
Ability to test electrical wall switches & receptaclesfor normal operations.
Knowledge ofuniversity systems and procedures.
Physicalability to perform indicated tasks.
Ability touse hand tools and utilize all equipmentcommon to the building maintenance trades.
Ability to maintain inventory and controlstock for assigned areas.
Ability tosafeguard key, tools and equipment.
Abilityto communicate effectively, both verballyand in writing.
Ability to express work andequipment in technical terms or terms of thetrade.
Healthcare environment experience preferred.
