Drug Information, Investigational Drugs/Clinical Research, Medication Use Safety
The individual in this role will support and implement to regional and inter-regional cost-effectiveness initiatives at local medical centers. Initiatives may be related to formulary processes or drug use management processes, and are aimed to ensure clinically appropriate, safe, and affordable medication therapy across our continuum of care.
For the first three to six months, this individual will be working at our administrative office in Renton. Subsequently, this role will be based in our South Service Area, supporting clinics from Renton to Olympia.
Identify and implement to drug use management initiatives to support regional and interregional pharmacy goals promoting high-quality, cost-effective drug use.
Collaborate with the medical group, pharmacy administration, pharmacy operations, and clinical pharmacy to reach initiative targets.
Provide performance feedback to physicians and pharmacists related to pharmaceutical care, including clinical outcomes and cost effectiveness
Analyze and develop clinician or department-level support for the drug use management.
Coordinate and provide pharmaceutical education for providers and staff as it relates to appropriate, safe, and affordable medication use. Education may be via presentations, newsletters, formal utilization reviews, in large group meetings, or one-on-one interactions.
Attend all national, regional, and local committee meetings as assigned.
Minimum Education Requirements Doctorate Degree 1) PharmD or equivalent; 2) Completion of PGY1 and PGY2 residencies (or equivalent)
Preferred Education Doctorate Degree 1) PharmD or equivalent; 2) Completion of PGY1 and PGY2 residencies (or equivalent) with clinical and managed care training
Minimum Knowledge/Skills Requirements
Demonstrated ability to critically evaluate literature and evidence
Demonstrated ability to work with clinicians to influence and develop evidence-based drug prescribing, education, and initiatives
Demonstrated ability to access information systems used to impact drug use decisions and guidelines
Advanced proficiency with the Microsoft standard suite including Word, Excel and PowerPoint and Visio
Demonstrated ability to access and use desktop clinical tools to define data needs and evaluate prescribing patterns
Exceptional communication (verbal, written and presentation) skills and people relationship skills
Travel within the service area and region
Minimum Experience Requirements 4-5 years of clinical or managed care experience (or equivalent)
Preferred Experience 6 or more years of clinical or managed care experience or additional experience related to utilization management.
Minimum License/Certifications Requirements At time of hire 1) Current Washington State Pharmacist License; 2) Current Board Certification (or equivalent)
