The College of Veterinary Medicine (CVM) at Cornell University is recognized internationally as a leader in animal medicine, public health, biomedical research, and veterinary medical education. The Multimedia Assistant will report directly to the Assistant Director for Educational Technology and Innovation and the Assistant Dean of Marketing & Communication and will be primarily responsible for the following:
Collaborates with faculty subject matter experts and members of the Educational Technology and Innovation (ETI) team (multimedia developers, medical illustrators/animators, and programmers) to produce audio, video, and photographic assets that contribute to the design, development and implementation of educational resources to support the College's on-campus and offsite educational programs.
Stages and shoots high-quality original, innovative and imaginative instructional videos and photographs on-location (e.g. classroom and clinical settings) and in the studio, utilizing a variety of specialized media production equipment.
Supports a portfolio of ETI services including AV support for on-premise learning environments (e.g., Classroom, Lecture Halls, Labs, Tutorial Rooms, and Conference Rooms), Lecture Capture (Panopto), Learning Management System (Classlists, Blackboard, Canvas), and web conferencing (Zoom).
Operates equipment used to enhance live events such as microphones, amplifiers, video recorders, projectors, lighting, and sound-mixing equipment.
Works with the ETI team to develop opportunities through workshops, trainings, and consultations to demonstrate to faculty, students, and researchers how to thoughtfully integrate instructional technologies into their teaching and learning.
MARKETING & COMMUNICATIONS
Bringing the CVM brand to life through photography and fully-produced films, with a particular focus on our: research and its global impact; student experience and innovative curriculum; and delivery of state-of-the-art clinical care.
Bachelor's degree and 2 years of experience in media production, educational technology, or a related field, or equivalent combination of education and/or experience.
Demonstrated skill in video script creation/writing, videography and video production/editing
Demonstrated skill in photography and photo editing
Demonstrated ability to apply creative design principles in producing engaging multimedia content
Excellent interpersonal and oral communication skills and ability to work in a team environment.
Demonstrated creativity and ability to handle multiple projects while meeting concurrent deadlines.
Proficient in use of DSLR cameras, video cameras, studio and field lighting, microphones, and other media production equipment.
Proficient in use of Final Cut pro X or Adobe Premier, After Effects, Photoshop, and Lightroom.
Must be comfortable around animals (companion, farm and wildlife) and working in scientific and hospital environments.
Experience working in an academic environment and/or producing educational resources.
Experience with ITIL methodologies preferred.
CTS Certification preferred.
Experience archiving multi-media assets using metadata tagging to facilitate search/retrieval.
Experience in giving technical training presentations to an audience with varying level of technical understanding.
Experience with motion graphics and animation.
