Position Summary and Responsibilities
A key task for Vassar College today is to move beyond an emphasis on diversity and access to a focus on inclusion and equity. A most recent development in this collective effort is the Engaged Pluralism Initiative (EPI); it focuses on the academic success and well-being of students from historically underrepresented and marginalized groups. To assist the College in helping with this effort , Vassar seeks an EPI Coordinator to work with the steering committee to provide support for the development and successful execution of Engaged Pluralism.
In the role of EPI Coordinator, the successful candidate will facilitate the development and execution of a comprehensive plan of research, innovation, and resource allocation that will support the EPI's mission and goals. The coordinator is responsible for promoting the EPI and its activities; attending to details of implementation of program initiatives; maintaining a record of the aims and objectives of EPI and tracking progress toward their realization; facilitating the deliberations and initiatives of the EPI's working groups; partnering with the Communications Office to maintain the EPI website; ensuring effective communication between partners in the initiative and senior leadership of the EPI; and helping manage budget requests and disbursements.
This is a limited-term position starting on or about August 15, 2017 and ending on or about June 21, 2019. This position is full time (37.5 hours/week) for the academic year (44 weeks/year, mid-August through the 3rd week in June). This position is eligible for full administrator benefits including, but not limited to, health insurance, paid holiday time, and paid vacation of 18 days per academic year.
Qualifications Bachelor's degree and three years of relevant work experience required. Master's degree preferred. Strong organizational skills and attention to detail Excellent written and oral communication skills Experience facilitating or managing large projects or programs Experience working in higher education, preferably with historically underrepresented and marginalized groups Experience in inter-group training and/or facilitation is a plus Ability to interact with, and act as a liaison between, members of the Vassar community who occupy different roles in the college, including students, faculty, staff, and senior administrators Proficient in social and digital media communications Proficient in Microsoft Office, including Excel, and simple scheduling and project management software solutions
