Description A Simulation Lab Nurse is needed to support education of students by providing orientation and training on simulation equipment. This position is perfect for someone who would like to keep their hand in the clinical area but do something outside of patient care. The Simulation Lab Nurse will be joining an experienced simulation team in a collaborative, supportive environment. Under the direction of the lab manager/director, performs skills and simulation lab set up, maintains supplies and equipment, staffs practice labs, provides assistance to faculty and students during skills and simulation sessions. Key Functions and Expected Performances: Assist with set up and break down of rooms and equipment (simulators, task trainers, and other equipment/props, etc.) for lab sessions Maintain laboratory environment appropriate to student learning: Maintain lab equipment Straighten beds and linens Restock, put away, and dispose of supplies Maintain inventory of disposable and non-disposable supplies and equipment and communicate and participate in reordering Operate and program patient simulators, AV equipment and computer software for simulation sessions Assist with audio/video recording, copying and dissemination of simulation scenarios Perform routine maintenance checks of simulators and supplies Troubleshoot equipment and contact appropriate resources Assist students and faculty in use of simulation equipment Staff open labs for student access during assigned hours Familiarizes self with assignments to assist students during labs Communicate lab needs, requests and feedback to Lab Manager/Director Create and maintain room schedules and calendars Participate in process improvement projects Support research and scholarly projects Conduct tours and demonstrations for visitors Participate in professional development pertinent to job duties Preferred Skills and Experiences: Nursing or healthcare simulation experience desirable but not required. Wide variety of healthcare experience Self-starter and self- sufficient Flexibility in scheduling Additional Information: This is a part-time, hourly position requiring 12 hours per week Hours vary M-F, possibly minimal weekends
