: The Electromagnetic Theory Department is seeking a candidate with a background in plasma analysis\. The candidate will work on a broad variety of projects associated with Sandia Laboratories Nuclear Weapons Science and Technology programs including nuclear\-weapon analysis, Advanced Strategic Computing, and research and development\. Key functions of this role include, but are not limited to: + Conduct analysis in areas such as breakdown, pulsed power applications, and systems effects in ionizing\-radiation environments+ Conduct theoretical analysis and computational simulation using commercial or customized software+ Team with other developers, analysts, and experimentalists+ Develop expertise in different areas of electromagnetics and plasma physics Required: + PhD in electrical engineering, physics or closely\-related discipline, with a specialization in plasma theory or simulation+ Research experience in mathematical and simulation related to low temperature plasma analysis+ Publications or presentations related to using numerical simulations to better understand plasma discharge phenomenon+ Experience in data analysis and post\-processing+ Ability to obtain and maintain a DoE Q clearance Desired: + Experience with High Performance Computing architectures and execution+ Experience programming in scripting \(shell, python, etc\.\) and C\+\++ Demonstrated ability to work with others and contribute to a team effort+ Excellent verbal and written communication skills+ Willingness to develop expertise in different areas of electromagnetic and/or plasma physics+ Willingness to be flexible in job assignments Department Description: The Electromagnetic Theory department \(1352\) is engaged in development of advanced theory, modeling, simulation and analysis techniques for use across a broad spectrum of electromagnetic and plasma physics environments\. These capabilities support both near term deliverables and long\-term R&D in electromagnetics, plasma physics \(spaning parameter space from high energy density physics to electrical breakdown\), pulsed\-power sciences, nuclear weapons qualification in radiation and electromagnetic environments, and NW surveillance/dismantlement/forensic programs\. The department is currently engaged in the B61\-12, W88 alt 370, W80\-4, and W87 lifetime extension programs\.
