Office of International Student & Scholar Services
As a member of the Office of International Student & Scholar Services, the Sponsored Intl Student Recruiter and Advisor is responsible for recruiting and advising international students at the University, especially those sponsored by government and third-party entities (e.g. SACM, IIE, etc.).
Responsibilities • Actively recruit sponsored international students • Advise international students on matters pertaining to both immigration and third-party sponsorship • Monitor the majors and academic progress of sponsored international students • Maintain and develop relations with sponsoring organizations • Work with the Cashier’s Office to track and verify sponsors’ financial guarantee records • Serve as DSO/ARO and generate immigration documents for sponsored students • Promote increased interaction between international and American students at UMSL • Assist with workshops and programming for current international students • Work with academic departments to coordinate international transfer credit • Generate immigration documents for Transfer students • Perform other duties as assigned

Bachelor’s degree • U.S. citizenship or permanent residency (in order to access SEVIS) • Knowledge of immigration regulations pertaining to international students • Ability to work effectively with people from a variety of cultures and backgrounds • Experience studying or living overseas • Demonstrated skills with Microsoft Office • A keen eye for detail • Capacity to work both independently and as a part of a team
Preferred Qualifications • Proficiency in Arabic or other foreign language • Experience working with international students in a formal setting • Familiarity with SEVIS, fsaAtlas, and PeopleSoft • Work experience in higher education
