Hartford Healthcare (HHC) located in Connecticut has an immediate opening for a Radiation Oncology Physicist. There are five Radiation Oncology Departments located at Hartford, Avon, Meriden, New Britain, and Norwich. This position is based in Norwich at Backus Hospital, however coverage at any of the other locations is possible. Assure safe and accurate delivery of radiation treatment by providing radiotherapy equipment selection, testing, calibration, ongoing quality control and dosimetric data and development in order to optimize the therapeutic benefits of radiation treatment of neoplastic disease; optimize patient treatment planning by consulting with physicians and medical dosimetrists, designing of treatment geometries, preparing accurate dose calculation and planning system quality management in order to achieve a favorable therapeutic ratio; expand capabilities of radiation oncology by conducting appropriate developmental research and investigating new treatment modalities to assure patients have access to the leading edge in proven radiotherapeutic care.
A minimum of a Master’s degree in Radiation Oncology Physics or a related field
Either completion of part 2 and eligibility to sit for part 3 of the American Board of Radiology exam in Therapeutic Radiological Physics, or, board certification by the American Board of Radiology in Therapeutic Radiological Physics or the American Board of Medical Physics in Radiation Oncology Physics with two years of clinical radiation oncology physics experience
Qualified for independent practice of radiation oncology physics in the following special procedures: (a) SRS/SRT/SBRT radiosurgery; and (b) HDR Brachytherapy and Low Dose Rate Interstitial Brachytherapy with, for both procedures, qualification to be licensed as NRC Teletherapy Physicist.
