Reporting to the Industrial Safety and Hygiene(ISH) Core Programs Team Leader, the Industrial Hygiene and Safety (IHS) Professional will be responsible for assisting ISH in the implementation of the Industrial Hygiene program, policies and procedures. This role will provide daily support to programmatic and facility organizations to ensure the protection of workers, compliance with Laboratory ISH requirements and mission success. You will collaborate with the work force and develop solutions to complex IH issues that require in-depth analysis of work activities and data; promote safety, security and quality in all operations; exercise prudent fiscal and property management; and promote teamwork within the organization and across the Laboratory. This position presents an excellent opportunity for a motivated, innovative and customer-focused industrial hygiene professional to support an established ISH Group.
Bachelor’s degree in related technical discipline and a minimum of five years of related experience; equivalent combination of relevant education and professional-level experience will be considered
Ability to obtain DOE Q clearance (U.S. citizenship required)
Experience implementing industrial hygiene-related risk assessments and corrective actions
Experience identifying, applying and interpreting federal codes, standards and regulations in IH program areas such as chemical safety, beryllium and exposure assessment (both qualitative and quantitative)
Working knowledge and application of techniques and procedures for industrial hygiene to include sampling techniques/instrumentation, sample analysis and selection/implementation of controls
Experience and skill in the preparation and communication of industrial hygiene technical information
Ability to apply the hierarchy of controls to eliminate or mitigate hazards while ensuring mission success
Knowledge of DOE and regulatory requirements related to industrial hygiene in a research environment
Working knowledge of Laboratory organizations, operations, activities and data collection tools
Working knowledge and application of Integrated Safety Management, Integrated Work Management and other industrial hygiene procedures
