Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey, is seeking a Research Teaching Specialist IV for The Department of Population Studies at the Cancer Institute of New Jersey. This position is under the direction of the Principal Investigator, the Research Teaching Specialist IV is responsible for managing all phases of multiple research projects and ensuring compliance with study protocols. The purpose of the Research Teaching Specialist IV position is to support research that focuses on understanding and promoting health-related behaviors among individuals with cancer and those at risk for cancer, under the direction of the Principal Investigator. Responsibilities include recruiting and contacting study participants, interviewing participants by telephone or in person, administering survey questionnaires, attending study meetings, and performing related duties as needed.
Among the key duties of this position are the following:
Maintains participants' records in electronic database and ensures their confidentiality.
Conducts data processing and analysis, as directed.
Provides support in the preparation of presentations, lectures, manuscripts, research proposals and any other research-related activities, as directed.
Assists in the preparation of IRB submissions
Understands and adheres to Rutgers' compliance standards as they appear in RBHS's Corporate Compliance Policy, Code of Conduct and Conflict of Interest Policy.
Understands, demonstrates and models the Rutgers Cancer Institute of New Jersey core values.
Keeps abreast of all pertinent federal, state and Rutgers' regulations, laws and policies as they presently exist and as they change or are modified.
Performs other related duties as assigned.
Minimum Education and Experience:
Master's Degree in a relevant social science or related field (e.g. psychology, social work, public health or social science) or a Bachelor's Degree plus one (1) year of relevant research experience.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Prior field experience in medical research and project management an asset.
Demonstrated excellent organizational and problem-solving skills, with attention to detail and an ability to set priorities for productivity.
Demonstrated ability to work independently and take initiative, yet seek supervision as appropriate.
Demonstrated effective interpersonal skills and, oral and written communication skills, including the ability to motivate and recruit study participants.
Ability to work flexible hours (including evenings and weekends), as needed.
Possesses own vehicle or alternative means of transportation from one site to another.
Must be computer literate with proficiency and working knowledge of database and reporting tools such as Microsoft Word, Excel, Access and PowerPoint.
Experience in data collection and managing research projects preferred.
