Position Description: The Conservatory of Music is accepting applications for a full-time, tenure-track Assistant Professor and Director of Choral Studies. The primary responsibility of the successful applicant will be to conduct the Pacific Singers, the Oriana Choir, and the University Choir, and leverage these ensembles to recruit students to Pacific. Our choirs give an average of two public performances a semester, sometimes collaborating with our orchestra, opera program, or with the local Stockton Symphony. Other teaching assignments will be designated in accordance with the candidate's areas of expertise. We will give priority to candidates with demonstrable expertise in a secondary area, preferably teaching sight-singing/ear training.

Develop a forward-thinking and relevant 21st century choral program to attract Conservatory and non-Conservatory students to participate in the ensembles
Provide unique and innovative choral ensemble settings for different styles of choral performance
Integrate sound vocal technique and provide competent pedagogic guidance as part of the rehearsal process
Be able to develop community outreach and recruitment strategies through ensemble experiences
If presented with opportunity to teach sight-singing, develop collaborative curriculum to enhance musicianship and create pathways for musical training to be reinforced in choral experience
Create environment for student-led ensembles to flourish and collaborate within choral arts program
Demonstrate desire to collaborate with multiple music-making and non-music-making organizations on campus
Be able to enhance the regional reputation of the University of the Pacific Choral Arts program through innovative and visionary leadership and guidance
Additional Qualifications: College-level experience highly desirable. Doctorate preferred, or Masters degree with professional experience commensurate with a doctorate.
Physical Requirements: Requires extended periods of sitting and repetitive hand/wrist motion while using computer keyboard and phone. Occasional standing, walking climbing stairs, bending, stooping and reaching. Occasional lifting up to 25 pounds.
