Provide expertise and leadership on wireless technology evolution. Drive technology planning with member company representatives including technical experts from the technology organizations of operators, suppliers, and technology companies. Develop planning guidance and program management for key initiatives including 4G LTE evolution to 5G, wireless technology disruptors, and network evolution for the future. Interface with other key organizations including Next Generation Mobile Networks (NGMN), 4G Americas, GSMA, 3GPP, 5GPPP, and others as appropriate. Work with CTO to brief government agencies such as the FCC, OSTP, NTIA, and others to drive policies that support growth and flexibility for network evolution.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE THE FOLLOWING (OTHER DUTIES MAY BE ASSIGNED):
Provide technical expertise on technology especially 4G LTE evolution through LTE Advanced and 3GPP releases. Develop approaches for 5G in conjunction with member companies, experts, universities, and third party organizations.
Develop roadmap for future network vision in conjunction with CTO and member companies.
Work with senior management and government agencies to analyze and evaluate new spectrum bands for 5G technology, both low and high bands. Coordinate input for World Radio Conference.
Work with executives and technical experts at member companies and government bodies (e.g. NTIA, FCC, DoD) to develop technical positions and approaches that provide value to members while meeting regulatory objectives.
Ability to gain consensus among members on key technical positions.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES Provide leadership and direction to industry and member groups. Manage internal resource(s) as needed.

Solid understanding of wireless network architectures including radio access from 3G to 4G LTE. Appreciation and understanding of use cases and drivers for technology evolution to 5G.
Experience in development or deployment of mobile wireless networks and/or equipment

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:
BS in Engineering or related science field with a 8-10 years of job-related experience. MS or equivalent a plus.
Knowledge of radio communications technologies and implementations with 3G technology required. 4G LTE experience a plus. 4G LTE technology competence required.
Experienced in leading teams to conduct planning, analysis, roadmaps, and architecture plans.
Engineering and operations experience with a wireless operator or network provider extremely valuable.
Experience in Microsoft Office, with advanced experience in Word, Excel, Outlook, and Powerpoint.
Detail-oriented with knowledge of grammar and punctuation. Proficiency in proofreading skills and strong communications skills are required.
