Position Summary: We have an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Nurse Practitioner.
In this role, the successful candidate Provision, coordination, and assurance of comprehensive nursing care using nursing process and pertinent standards of care, the diagnosis of illness and physical conditions, and performance of therapeutic, corrective, and prescriptive measures of the designated inpatient or outpatient patient population within a collaborative practice agreement established with a specific physician on the staff of NYU Hospitals Center
Recruits, screens and enrolls patients according to research protocols.Performs complete health history, physical examination and psychosocial assessment of patients.
Orders customary laboratory, radiological and diagnostic studies. Differentiates between normal/abnormal findings and follows protocol for abnormal findings.
Assesses, documents and reports all adverse events. Collaborates with physician to develop a treatment plan in response to the adverse event.
Administers medications (FDA-Approved investigational drugs and approved innovative therapy drugs) with knowledge of action, mode of administration, side effects and contraindications. Orders, prepares, administers and evaluates medication and intravenous therapy items as needed and in accordance with the institutional policy and protocol. Inserts IV lines and may administer IV push infusions.
Performs study related procedures without direct supervision by the physician.Participates in provision of health care, teaching, counseling and treatment to patients in outpatient setting and refers significant clinical issues per protocol to supervising physician.
Prescribes and writes prescriptions for medication according to New York State law (including controlled substances provided DEA number has been issued) per protocol.
Evaluates patients treatment and health care plan for effectiveness and modifies per clinical standards and practice protocols.Documents all assessments, findings, progress and care provided in patients medical record.
Works collaboratively with other disciplines in developing and implementing the therapeutic plan of care.
Supervises, trains and evaluates Research Data Associates and student volunteers.
Assigns specific research activities to research staff.
Plans and coordinates inter-related activities with Research Data Associates and student volunteers in order to ensure protocol compliance.
Administers informed consent procedures, research questionnaires and disease assessment instruments.
Responsible for instructing participants on all aspects of the research study.
Maintains current professional credentials.
Attends educational programs to increase knowledge and skills for patient care responsibilities.
Participates in self evaluation and assists in the development of self directed goals.
Participates actively in institutional committees, community, agencies and professional organizations.
Minimum Qualifications: To qualify you must have a Licensure: Current registration as Professional Registered Nurse in New York and registration as Nurse Practitioner in New York.Education: Master's Degree in Nursing.Establishes a written Collaborative Practice Agreement with an NYUMC attending physician.Credentialed through the Credentialing Committee of the Medical Board with delineation of privilege approved for role specific treatment privileges.DEA license if prescriptive privileges are sought.ANCC certification or Board Certification from other specialty organization that certifies Nurse Practitioners in a clinical area of practice. Minimum of 4 years clinical nursing practice in the care of the patient population served or at least 4 years of clinical research related experience or two years of clinical research related experience and experience as a Nurse Practitioner. Ability to apply nursing process toward achievement of specific outcomes in an organized fashion, which addresses patient/family safety and satisfaction.Evidence of excellent interpersonal skills, effective communication skills, creative problem solving and excellent critical thinking and leadership. Previously demonstrated ability to facilitate group processes and work cohesively and collaboratively as a member of the interdisciplinary team.
Preferred Qualifications: Previous experience as a nurse practitioner preferred
