Position Summary Villanova University is organized in a semi-decentralized model with College based development officers supported by central services. The Gift Officer assigned to the Family Engagement and Philanthropy unit will represent Villanova University as a whole. Primary duties include establishing and managing effective relationships with donor prospects and existing annual and major donors. The Gift Officer, under the supervision of the Executive Director, Leadership Giving and Professional Development, and in conjunction with the Senior Associate Vice President for University Advancement will plan and implement multiple gifts strategies in support of the priorities of the University using operating/work plans and stewardship plans; identify and qualify potential donors; design and implement successful cultivation and solicitation strategies. The Gift Officer will solicit prospects and identify and motivate those parents who can advance the development function within the undergraduate colleges and non-academic offices. The Gift Officer is expected to conduct approximately 12 prospect visits per month and manage a portfolio of approximately 125 prospects per year, with a financial goal set each fiscal year as appropriate for the prospect pool. Gift officer will be working with individuals with gift capacity of up to $100,000. The Gift Officer will also support projects within Family Engagement and Philanthropy that do not specifically relate to their own prospect portfolio.

Duties and Responsibilities
Identify and manage a portfolio of approximately 125 parent gift prospects. Establish and manage effective relationships with parent prospects to engage in the life of the University; encourage participation in activities and evaluate potential for development involvement.
Plan and implement gift strategies using work and stewardship plans. Identify and evaluate potential donors from available research, peer screenings and event participation. Manage volunteer opportunities associated with the Parent Ambassadors program and assist with other programmatic elements of the Parents Program.
Proactively reach out to parent prospects by phone and email to request in-person appointments on campus or in their local communities and conduct approximately 12 prospect visits monthly for qualification, engagement and solicitation.
Establish collaborative and productive relationships with administrators across campus and within the four undergraduate colleges; become knowledgeable regarding the University’s priorities, programs, events, etc. in order to advance the interests of the University and more fully engage parents.
In conjunction with the Executive Director of Leadership Giving and Professional Development, assist in designing, coordinating and implementing development activities for parents including, but not limited to, Annual Fund and Planned Giving.
Perform additional duties and assist with special projects as assigned.
Bachelor’s degree required.
Proven successful experience in individual fund raising required. Commitment to higher education and a strong desire to associate with Villanova University and champion its mission required. Understanding of the University culture and the process for decision making and program development required.
Two to four years experience in development desired, with at least two years in direct personal solicitations preferred.
Ability and willingness to travel required. Strong verbal and written communication skills required. Comfort level working in a team oriented environment required, but also must be disciplined and results-oriented.
Knowledge of general office equipment required.
