The Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering through the West Virginia University Research Corporation is seeking applications for a Public Relations Assistant. The purpose of this position is to provide support to the WV Local Technical Assistance Program (WV LTAP). Incumbent provides support in the areas of public relations, office administration, writing and proofreading, and event coordination.
This position performs various support duties, and responds to inquiries and resolves matters of relatively low complexity. Responsibilities require some basic decision making and resourcefulness within available guides and precedents. Work effort impacts client services, program and project image, with nominal liabilities.
In order to be successful in this position, the ideal candidate will:
Assist with daily office tasks, such as entering information into databases and Excel spread sheets.
Assists with writing, layout, and proofreading for WV LTAP printed/electronic publications and website.
Responsible for designing and distributing electronic newsletter, Road & Street Speak.
Handles pre and post-event items. This includes, but is not limited to, sending out reminder emails, registering event attendees in Access database, summarizing event evaluations, and emailing or mailing certificates.
Communicate content with subject specific language and appropriate outreach tools that are applicable to the audience.
Possess a thorough understanding of public relations and integrated marketing concepts.
Bachelor’s degree in English, Public Relations, Marketing, Communication Studies, or a related field.
Experience in public relations and/or office administration is preferred.
