The Department of Microbiology, Cell Biology, & Immunology in (college) at the West Virginia University Research Corporation is seeking applications for a Postdoctoral Fellow – Host/Pahogen Interactions. This position provides research support for the Robinson Laboratory, which investigates the influence of the cytokine environment on immunological responses that control bacterial infection. Current research focus includes early life immunity during bacterial sepsis and strategies to promote improved control of Mycobaterium tuberculosis.
In order to be successful in this position, the ideal candidate will:
Possess knowledge of principles involved with bacterial pathogenesis.
Possess knowledge of basic immunological processes and host response to infection.
Perform imaging of cells and tissues.
Be skilled at working with laboratory animals.
Use scientific rules and methods to solve problems.
Identify complex problems and review related information to develop and evaluate options and implement solutions.
Document and present the results of research.
PhD in Microbiology, Immunology, or a related field.
Experience in host-pathogen interaction systems or models.
Preferred research experience with animal models of tuberculosis.
Preferred experience with advanced microscopy techniques.
Preferred experience with rodent models of bacterial sepsis.
