Job Description:The Associate Dean is responsible for coordinating academic (undergraduate and graduate) programs in the college; serving on College and University committees as appointed by the Dean, serving as acting dean in the absence of the Dean; and other duties as assigned by the Dean. The Associate Dean serves as a member of the College Leadership Team and Administrative Council and assists the Dean in monitoring College compliance with University policies and procedures. This position oversees program assessment activities to assure compliance with University guidelines and initiatives and consults with faculty responsible for undergraduate degree program assessment to ensure compliance with Southern Association of Colleges (SACS) and University guidelines. In this role, the Associate Dean serves as liaison to University program assessment committees. The Associate Dean serves as liaison between the College and University Undergraduate Council and Graduate Council, works with faculty developing new curriculum proposals and degree programs to ensure compliance with University guidelines, and serves in an advisory role to the College Undergraduate Curriculum Committees and Graduate Councils. This position oversees the College Advising Center to ensure student success and supervises the Director of Advising. The position works closely with the College's Laboratory Supervisors to coordinate the development of College instructional labs and supervises the Director of Laboratory Operations. The Associate Dean collaborates with College and University administrators in facilitating the awards process for faculty and staff insuring all are well represented as candidates for university-wide awards. This position collaborates with the Director of Marketing and Communications and other College administrators on marketing College programs and collaborates with College administrators in planning ongoing faculty development opportunities. The Associate Dean works with faculty and administrators to promoting diversity of students, faculty and staff in the College and coordinates efforts with the Office of Equity and Diversity and the Office of the Provost to promote diversity and inclusion and student success. The Associate Dean coordinates College elections and provides support for student academic awards and the scholarship award process. This position collaborates with administrators in planning and implementation of college-wide activities such as Graduation Recognition Ceremonies, Career Networking events, College retreats, supports the Dean's Student Leadership Council. The Associate Dean also oversees the planning, implementing, and evaluating of the College's Career Development and Leadership Center. The Associate Dean supports the Annual Reporting effort for the College and collects, analyzes, and periodically reports College data to the Dean and College administrators, particularly focusing on data related to undergraduate and graduate programs. The Associate Dean represents the Dean and the College at campus and community functions, particularly those relating to student programs.
Miniumum Qualifications: Candidates must have the credentials, experience, and documented achievements appropriate for a tenured appointment in one of the departments of the College. A Ph.D. in Engineering, Engineering Management, Engineering Technology, Computer Science, Industrial Technology, Construction Management, or closely related field conferred from an accredited institution is required, as well as a strong record of success in academic program development and leadership. Preferred Education and Experience: Demonstrated experience with the following programs: Degree Works, Curriculog, and Faculty 180. Demonstrated experience with SACs, faculty credentialing, space allocations, and management of Advising Centers and Laboratory Operations.
