The Technical Specialist for Student Accounts reports into the Senior Director of Student Accounts. The ideal candidate will have demonstrated aptitude for analytical work, be able to present data and findings to a variety of audiences, and have the technical skills necessary to successfully liaise with the Information Technology department on various projects
Responsibilities – Supports Student Accounts team as system expert and "super user" for accounts receivable, financial aid and student modules in University Student Information System(SIS) – Prepares scheduled and ad hoc reports – Analyze business and operational needs to recommend and implement improvements – Review existing and new functionality in Banner and TouchNet products and recommend and support adoption in response to user needs. Test and evaluate new releases, upgrades, and patches – Manage Banner validation tables and processes as required – Manage and maintain all Banner and TouchNet products configurations for semester/annual setup and updates – Serve as a key member of the implementation team for new banner modules and 3rd party software – Assist Student Accounts staff with queries and training – Create and generate ongoing error reports to ensure data integrity – Interact and collaborate with internal and external clients to understand data specifications; – Investigate and resolve data quality issues and escalate situations according to department processes; Build and run reports using report writing tools in support of Strategic Enrollment Management operations – Participate in cross-functional projects that support Strategic Enrollment Management, as needed – Collaborate closely with related functional errors to realize efficiency – Delivers outstanding customer service to internal and external colleagues including students – Remain current on all federal, state, and institutional regulations and policies – Additional duties as assigned
- Bachelor's degree and a minimum of three (3) years of experience working with relational databases and demonstrated aptitude for in data analysis or data management – Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Access), including knowledge of complex word merge development – Excellent communication skills – Ability to prioritize and handle multiple deadlines and projects – Organized and detail oriented – Ability to work well both independently as well as collaboratively in a team environment.
- Experience using Student Information Systems strongly preferred, including letter generation and population selection – Experience with Ellucian Banner (Accounts Receivable, Financial Aid and Student modules), Hyperion Brio, Tableau and Evisions Argos reporting tools – Project Management and/or higher education experience – Experience with reporting tools such as Crystal Reports required; experience and/or understanding of simple programming (SQL, Visual Basic, Java)
