PACS Informatics Supervisor Summary of Essential Job Duties: The lead imaging informatics systems administrator is a member of the department of imaging who is responsible for supporting imaging informatics operations, workflow, and development. Imaging informatics engages all aspects of the digital imaging workflow including: imaging acquisition and processing, imaging distribution and storage, imaging visualization and interpretation, reporting, and communications. The lead must have a solid background in both imaging technology and information systems, since this position often bridges imaging with other clinical areas and FIS. As a member of the imaging informatics team, the individual may be responsible for providing support to any of the following areas associated with imaging informatics: PA.CS, R1S, advanced visualization 3-D processing, DICOM integration and validation, PACS quality control and assurance, reading room design and support, and digital imaging operations. Supporting imaging modalities include: computed and direct radiography, fluoroscopy, interventional radiology, CT, MRI, ultrasound, mammography, PET, and nuclear medicine. Supported ancillary systems include film digitizers, CD/DVD import/export devices, DICOM routers, DICOM brokers, and reporting systems. The lead interacts with all sections of the imaging department, providing operational support and technical guidance to imaging personnel to ensure optimal digital imaging workflow. Qualification Requirements/Preferences: Education Certifications/Licensure Experience Physical Abilities Educational Requirements: Bachelors Degree in Computer Science, Imaging Technology, or equivalent required. Masters Degree preferred. License/Certification/Registration Requirements: Imaging Technologist certification or license as applicable (ARRT, NMTCB, RDMS) with at least 5 years of experience as a technologist. Board certification in Imaging Informatics (ABII) preferred. Experience: Minimum of 3 years of experience as an Imaging Informatics Administrator or similar level with demonstrated knowledge of PACS, RIS, imaging modalities, and associated workflow. Extensive experience in DICOM modality integration and validation; minimum of 3 years preferred. Demonstrated experience in application of MQSA, HIPAA, ACR and other medical imaging standards and legislation. Excellent understanding of post-processing techniques such as MIP/MPR, image fusion, volume rendering and qualification. Demonstrated experience in PACS and RIS error reconciliation, including demonstrated understanding of anatomy physiology visualized when performing error reconciliation. Excellent understanding of system management, networking, storage architecture, and interface validation. Demonstrated ability to use Microsoft applications including Word, PowerPoint; databases such as Access and Excel; and could sharing software such as SharePoint or Box. Excellent oral, written, and presentation skills with ability to deal effectively with diverse skills sets and personalities, provide strong team leadership, and work effectively as a team player. Physical Demands: (e.g., lifting, standing, walking) Frequent sitting and standing, occasional walking and bending, occasional lifting of materials up to 25 pounds for distances to 10 feet.
