We are seeking a highly motivated individual to serve as a Senior Postdoctoral Fellow (funding guaranteed for two years) at the Stony Brook University in Stony Brook (Department of Health &Technology; and Neurobiology and Behavior) in the Experimental Neuro-rehab laboratory. Our laboratory investigates the neuronal and electrophysiological mechanisms underlying spinal cord injury and treatment. Relevant research projects include the use of brain and spinal cord stimulation techniques to advance rehabilitation after paralysis. Additionally, the lab utilizes advanced behavioral and electrophysiology tools to understand mechanisms underlying paralysis.
Currently we are seeking a candidate with a Ph.D. and/or M.D. The candidate must have a strong background in spinal cord injury, behavioral neuroscience and/or neuroanatomical research.
Preference is given to candidate with:
Neuroanatomical skills and surgical techniques. This should be discussed in the research statement.
Recent record of research publications
Experience in at least two or more fields: spinal cord injury research, behavioral neuroscience, neuroanatomical and/or neurorehabilitation research.
Responsibilities: The incumbent will
Develop, design and conduct research experiments related to research in the laboratory utilizing specialized techniques, applying theories, concepts and principles in the field.
Work independently to establish novel approaches in the laboratory through scientific literature search and hands-on experimentation.
The candidate is expected to write research grants and prepare manuscripts for publications in peer reviewed and/or scientific journals.
Assist the Principal Investigator in all aspects of current projects (conduct experiments, data analysis, manuscript prep/editing, grant writing).
Train post-docs, students and research staff.
Ability to work and support interdisciplinary work in small lab groups as well as work collaboratively.
