This is a full-time position, 40 hours per week/12 months per year.
The College of Science has 838 undergraduate students, 292 graduate students and 202 faculty members. It delivers the required scientific and mathematical education for most of the programs offered at RIT. The College of Science houses four of RIT’s eight Ph.D. programs – color science, astrophysical sciences and technology, mathematical modeling and imaging science.
The College of Science offers undergraduate and graduate programs in the Chester F. Carlson Center for Imaging Science, Thomas H. Gosnell School of Life Sciences, the School of Chemistry and Materials Science, the School of Mathematical Sciences, the School of Physics and Astronomy, and the Program of Color Science. It also offers many research opportunities and programs and houses a number of research centers and laboratories that are conducting world-renowned research. In addition to its degree programs, the College delivers the required scientific and mathematical underpinnings for most of the programs offered at RIT.
Detailed Job Description
This position reports directly to the Associate Dean for Academic Affairs. The Web and Social Media Coordinator will coordinate the updates to and maintenance of all College of Science websites and social media outlets. The Coordinator will develop original content, will suggest creative ways to promote the academic and research programs of the College of Science, and will work towards increasing web presence and engagement with all our constituents, internal and external partners, and our stakeholders.
The Web and Social Media Coordinator will oversee the implementation of publicity, through social media and the web, will research, write, and maintain social media posts (including Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, and others), will setup daily tasks and activity for all social media outlets, will create and maintain relevant social media accounts and will deliver monthly reports with statistics and results for each account. The Coordinator will assist in the development, coordination, and implementation of social media communication and outreach plans and will stay up-to-date with changes in social platforms and with changes in our programs and strategic direction. The Coordinator will coordinate ongoing communication with prospective students and applicants, including online chats, social media, email and paper correspondence; maintain databases related to these activities
Required Minimum Qualifications
4 years of experience required to perform the essential responsibilities of the job
Expert in all social media platforms and proven work experience as a social media coordinator
Experience with social networking systems and technology
Must be able to interpret data and synthesize trends
Be familiar with the effective use and synthesis of information (including but not limited to student enrollment trends, searchable databases, and best practices)
Must have computer knowledge, including familiarity with graphic design and web software, and experience in driving effective website content
Experience using technology to support key job requirements (i.e. various social media platforms, advanced Microsoft Office Suite – Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access); Web page development and updating skills are preferred
Ability to deliver scientific content (web text, image and video), web authoring, and content maintenance
Must have excellent communication skills including writing, presentation, interpersonal, and listening skills
Must be organized, reliable, thorough, and creative with a positive attitude
Must have demonstrable problem-solving skills, strong analytical skills, proven ability to work with multiple deadlines and multiple priorities, time management and organizational skills, and ability to multitask
Must have a proven ability to work with a variety of constituents and stakeholders and as part of a team to achieve common goals
