Laboratory Coordinator - School of Dental Medicine, Diagnostic Sciences-(17001429)
Tufts University School of Dental Medicine (TUSDM) offers one of the most forward-looking educational environments in dental medicine in the country. The Division of Oral and Maxillofacial Pathology is one of four divisions within the Department of Diagnostic Sciences. The division's two faculty deliver didactic and clinical instruction in pathology to students during the first, second, third, and fourth years of dental school. The division also provides clinical consulting services to the predoctoral and postodoctoral clinics. In addition to delivering didactic courses, the division manages an oral biopsy service, Tufts Oral Pathology Service (TOPS).
The Laboratory Coordinator will be responsible for overseeing and managing the needs of TOPS. This includes preparing and distributing biopsy kits, receiving the biopsy specimens, accessioning, and delivering them to Tufts Medical Center (TMC), picking up of processed glass slides, and sending the final pathology reports to the referring providers. Also, the Laboratory Coordinator will oversee the Administrative Assistant and work-study students who support TOPS. Other key responsibilities for this position are managing the calendar for the division, coordinating travel, and processing appropriate University paperwork.
3+ years laboratory experience with Associates degree OR 1+ years laboratory experience with BA/BS.
Associates degree or Bachelor's degree; BA/BS preferred.
Advanced computer skills including MS Word and MS Excel. Knowledge of CoPath preferred. Must have experience with patient care software programs.
Ability to lift 25 lbs.
1+ years of management/supervisory experience.
Must have the ability to multitask and meet concurrent deadlines.
Should have excellent communication and customer service skills.
Special Work Schedule Requirements: Monday – Friday, 8:30am-4:30pm. Occasional overtime and/or weekend work is required when needed.
