Position Description: Central Washington University-Department of Aviation is seeking an Lecturer/Flight Training Manager beginning in fall 2016. This is a non-tenure track, full-time nine-month salaried position with benefits and separate summer contract.
Responsibilities: The responsibilities for this position include the following:
Assist Assistant Chief Ground Instructor (CGI): - Assist CWU's Assistant Chief Ground Instructor (CGI) to ensure regulatory compliance and quality control of FAA Part 141 Ground Schools, curriculum and syllabus. - Assist in providing annual training to Part 141 Instructors, maintain accurate records, schedule flight lab briefings with coordination with contractor, etc
Assist Assistant CGI with Monitoring Flight Training Provider and Contract: - Assist Assistant CGI withensuring compliance with CWU/Flight Training Provider contract; monitoring student progress; monitoring flight training provider compliance with CWU/Flight Training Provider contract; and, recommending actions to Department Chair for contract resolution
Teach and Advise: - Teach 14 CFR 141 Ground School courses and other 141-supporting courses during the first year approximately .6 time (27 WLUs) during regular 9-month contarct (and .6 time during summer session contract), changing during second and subsequent years to approximately .5 time (23 WLUs) during regular 9-month contarct (and .5 time during summer session contract). - Share in academic advising for Professional Pilot students.
Manage the Aviation Training Center (ATC): - Provide key/alarm training for all new Department and Contractor personnel. - Coordinate maintenance on Computers and FTDs. - Serve as point person for building issues.
Manage Professional Pilot student recruitment: - Work with Chair in coordinating Professional Pilot program marketing and student recruitment. - Help process all Professional Pilot student admissions applications for department.
Manage Aviation System Saftey: - Develop procedures for system-wide aviation safety for flight training - Provide appropriate and adequate training for the stakeholders concerned with safety
Any other Responsibilities: - Any other duties and responsibilitied deemed appropriate by the chair of the aviation department
Bachelor's degree in Aviation or a related discipline, CFI, CFII, MEI (airplanes).
Minimum of 1,000 hours of dual flight instruction given (in airplanes).
Meets FAR141.35(e) or 141.36(e) requirements for Chief or Assistant Chief Ground Instructor
Experience in teaching ground school courses.
Positive attitude, winsome personality and demonstrated team player.
Proficient with Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
Airline Transport Pilot certificate.
Chief or Assistant Chief Flight Instructor experience.
2,500 hours of dual given.
College teaching experience.
Experience with Talon ETA program or similar
Experience with Learning Management Systems (LMS) such as Canvas or Blackboard
Master's degree in Aviation, Aviation Safety, Aeronautics or closely related field.
