This job posting is for multiple position across Cornell Dining. Location and schedule assignments will be based on business needs.
Under regular supervision, this position will wash, organize and stock all dishes, silverware, glassware, utensils, pots and pans. Also, this role is directly responsible for the front and back-of-house maintenance of floors, walls, ceilings, and trash. Dish Machine Operators (DMO's) will primarily spend most of their time in the dish room but are also responsible for cleaning and general maintenance of their stations, the front of the house, and back of the house. DMO's are expected to be on top of garbage disposal. In addition, DMO's are responsible for making sure that their assigned areas are always stocked with the necessary sanitary items including but not limited to paper towels, toilet paper, and soap. Safety and sanitation should always be enforced, and DMO's in particular are expected to keep their assigned areas stocked, cleaned and organized.
Must be creative and flexible at all times. Schedules, shifts, and locations are subject to change. Position may require evening, weekend, and holiday hours. May perform other related duties as assigned. Position may be subject to seasonal lay-offs including summer, fall, winter, and spring breaks.
Positions are full-time, 35-39 hours per week and benefits eligible.
Good interpersonal skills. Basic proficiency in English involving reading, writing, math and verbal articulation. Be able to lift 30 lbs. occasionally and up to 50 lbs. (minimal). Ability to withstand continuous exposure to temperature changes, heat, steam, slippery floors, food waste and kitchen equipment such as slicers, fryers, steamers, and ovens. Must be able to stand for long periods of time. Team-work oriented and aligned with Cornell's University's diversity initiatives. Previous dish machine operation experience with knowledge of proper sanitation and HACCP procedures helpful.
