Bring your technical leadership and web development expertise to UW Human Resources. As web manager, you will maintain UWHR web properties which include the UW employment website (the site you are using to apply to this job!), the UWHR website, and several more program sites like The Whole U, SafeCampus, the Combined Fund Drive, and the Distinguished Staff Awards. You will also help the team in executing comprehensive online communication strategies that often include email campaigns, video production, online training, and social media.
In this position, you will report to the HR chief of staff with a dotted line to the associate director for web development for UW Marketing and Communications and be responsible content editing and maintenance, development support, technical leadership, strategic planning, and analytics evaluation. Your commitment to continuous improvement will be applied as you harmonize client requests with content strategy and site architecture and promote the adoption of technology that will enhance user experience.
Working within HR means that you need to be responsible for managing sensitive and confidential information on behalf of departments and assisting with the deployment of online communications during times of crisis. This position requires the ability to develop and maintain trust and rapport with clients and other UW technology-focused teams as well as provide mentorship to HR staff whose positions require some degree of web responsibilities.
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, IT or related.
Two years of progressively responsible web development and/or lead programmer; or equivalent years of progressive responsible web development and/or lead programmer experience.
Development experience with the WordPress or similar CMS with demonstrated ability to make template updates, build modules, perform UI customizations, and manage CMS databases.
Basic to intermediate knowledge of MySQL databases and SQL programming, and ability to pull content from databases.
Demonstrated ability to create usable and accessible Web sites - must have a portfolio showing past projects that meet this criteria.
Strong knowledge of Adobe Acrobat Pro - specifically creating accessible documents and forms.
Working knowledge of the Adobe Creative Suite (most notably either Photoshop or Illustrator).
Working knowledge of Google Analytics and Web Master Tools.
Proven ability to build strong client, colleague and partner relationships.
Excellent problem solving skills.
Excellent organizational skills and proven ability to manage multiple projects to deadline.
Excellent written and oral communication skills.
Equivalent education/experience will substitute for all minimum qualifications except when there are legal requirements, such as a license/certification/registration.
Prefer web design and UX experience.
Prefer development experience developing SASS and/or LESS stylesheet languages.
Working knowledge of Git, or similar version control system.
Prefer experience deploying and managing Web sites located on Amazon Web Services.
Prefer ability to manage Web servers over SSH.
Demonstrated understanding of SEO best practices.
Ability to manage multiple social media accounts

Appointment to this position is contingent upon obtaining satisfactory results from a criminal background check.
Position is temporarily funded through June 30, 2019 by UW Marketing. Continuation of the position is contingent on UWHR securing ongoing funding.
