Tokio Marine HCC – Public Risk Group, a member of the Tokio Marine HCC group of companies, has an exciting opportunity for a Vice President of Risk Control in our office in Auburn Hills, MI.
Relying on expert knowledge and advanced leadership skills, the Vice President, Risk Control is accountable for the following responsibilities:
Oversee risk control unit including the review of new and renewal policy information; responsible for managing and reducing risk exposure for insured entities.
Ensure unit meets established guidelines and adheres to all company policy and procedures.
Perform all applicable risk control activities and review the work of other departmental staff.
Design, review and recommend policies, processes, procedures and rules to meet internal and external reporting requirements, improve operation efficiency and safeguard corporate assets. Plan and execute implementation.
Participate in the development of work unit or department goals and provide oversight and support in goal attainment.
Cultivate relationships with internal and external contacts to facilitate the risk control process, promote business development, and to remain abreast of industry trends.
Serve as a resource to departmental staff with regards to procedures, departmental guidelines, and industry trends and developments.
Position Knowledge, Skills, and Requirements:
Bachelor's of Science degree in Public Administration, Risk and Safety Management, Human Resources, or Criminal Justice or a related field or the equivalent education and experience
Associate in Risk Management (ARM), Risk Management for Public Entities (RMPE) and/or equivalent insurance designation
Minimum of twelve years of relevant and progressive public risk control experience gained from working in the risk management and insurance industry with knowledge of public entity risk control areas such as law enforcement, corrections, human resources, etc.
Minimum of eight years of leadership experience
Public Entity risk control experience highly preferred
Possess and have ability to apply advanced knowledge of principles, practices, and procedures
Excellent written and verbal communications skills with an emphasis on confidentiality, tact, and diplomacy
Superior organizational and analytical skills; demonstrated ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously
Knowledgeable of industry changes, legal updates and technical developments related to applicable area of the Company’s business to proactively respond to changing business environment
Advanced proficiency and experience using Microsoft Office Package (Excel, Access, PowerPoint, Word)
