Position Summary: We have an exciting opportunity to join our team as a FGP Pharmacy Technician II(40).
In this role, the successful candidate Under the immediate direction of a registered pharmacist, performs manual and technical pharmacy-related functions, which are permitted by the New York State Board of Pharmacy for unlicensed personnel. A registered pharmacist checks all functions related to the dispensing of medications
Participates in the training of newly hired pharmacy technicians.
Restocks the Omnicell of non-controlled substances
Prepares batch sterile products under the supervision of a pharmacist.
Assist the pharmacist in the compounding of Sterile Infusions
Performs inventory control functions (ordering, receiving and purchase order processing), maintains records of outside pharmacy charges borrow and loan items, and ambulatory pump issues and returns.
Maintains the files for patient medication profiles and pulls these charts for the pharmacists as needed.
Maintains investigational drug inventory records, request investigational drug supplies and assist in providing necessary documentation of medication orders to the NYU Investigational pharmacy.
Complete monthly medication area inspections wherever drugs are stored, including the pharmacy department.
Assist the pharmacy in multiple check processes for assures accuracy of infusions and other medications prior to dispensing.
Triage phone calls, facilitates infusion order workflow, trouble shoots infusion order inquiries from nursing.
Minimum Qualifications: To qualify you must have a HS diploma and 2 yrs prior experience as a Pharmacy Technician or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Must have knowledge and understanding of medical and pharmaceutical terminology as well as knowledge of procedures and standards for the labeling and dispensing of drugs. Ability to understand and follow specific instructions and procedures. Excellent organization and communication skills, and strong attention to detail required. Strong background in the use of computers and basis Microsoft programs. Certification as a Pharmacy Technician (C.Ph.T) is required..
Required Licenses: Cert Pharmacy Technician
Preferred Qualifications: Bachelor's Degree in Healthcare Administration or related field and 2 yrs relevant experience in an Investigational Pharmacy environment
