The University of Maryland School of Medicine has an opportunity for a Director of Center Operations in the Maryland Center of Excellence on Problem Gambling within the Department of Psychiatry. This position will oversee the planning and implementation of the Gambling Center's clinical training, helpline, public awareness, research, and prevention programs. The selected candidate will also oversee the Center's budget, and will collaborate with the Department of Health and Mental Hygiene (DHMH) and the Behavioral Health Administration (BHA) to support the Center's vision to the public and the communities in Maryland.
The Center of Excellence on Problem Gambling is a program of the University of Maryland School of Medicine affiliated with the Maryland Council on Problem Gambling and funded by the Department of Health and Mental Hygiene (DHMH). The Center brings together experts in treatment, training, education and prevention. This position will be located in Columbia, Maryland.
Work in collaboration with the Director of Behavioral Health to provide supervision and coordination for training staff, Helpline Manager, Prevention Manager and Admin. Assist in coordinating and planning the implementation of services and duties.
Work in collaboration with the DHMH/BHA to provide current information regarding best practices in the field of problem gambling
Work in collaboration with Maryland Health Departments to develop local plans to address problem gambling awareness, prevention and treatment.
Develop and maintain a referral list of providers qualified in the treatment of gambling disorder
Establish the Center of Excellence as the center of information and programs on problem gambling for the public, health providers and other stake holders in Maryland
Develop and collect educational and training materials related to problem and disordered gambling for public, health care providers and behavioral care providers.
Coordinate the implementation of web pages, content, social networking, and internet structure and content in the implementation of clinical training delivery.
Provide monthly scheduled clinical consultation conference calls with Board Approved Clinical Consultants (BACC's)
Represent the Center at stakeholder meetings such as the Maryland Alliance on Responsible Gambling and the BHA Advisory Council.
Oversee and manage the Center's budget.
Support the vision of the University, the Center and DHMH/BHA during public relations and community offerings.
Education: Bachelor's degree in business, public administration, information technology, or related field. Master's degree preferred. Experience: Seven (7) years related experience in administrative, financial, research and technology operations with at least three (3) years experience at the management/leadership level. Preferred: Prior experience in the field of problem gambling service delivery or administration. Other: Credit history review may be required. Financial disclosure is required.
