Computational Scientist Consultant/Advisor Sr - Band F Cornell Center for Advanced Computing
As part of a team, provide computational consulting for research groups including support for computational research, cloud computing, and/or high performance computing, using resources at CAC and elsewhere. Assist in the development and co-authorship of online training materials on computational topics. Computational support and training material topics can include containerization, parallelization, optimization, software libraries, visualization, and data management. Assist with development of new technologies and transitioning them into production. Test and evaluate hardware and software technologies. Develop and deliver presentations. Write technical documentation.
B.S. in science, engineering, computer science, mathematics, or related field
3 -5 years programming experience, preferably in a research computing environment
Expertise in some of the following languages: Python, Java, MATLAB, SQL, R, C/C++, Fortran
Strong communication skills, including writing, speaking, documentation, teaching, diagramming
Ability to work effectively both collaboratively and independently
Experience using software development tools and/or developing scientific workflows
Experience developing training materials in any medium
Background in developing computational applications
Parallel programming: design and implement distributed and parallel applications
Large data: perform data analysis and data mining techniques
Visualization: use visualization tools and software
