About this position
The Strategic Technology Initiatives Specialist is responsible for managing and maintaining the several data systems integral to the success of the International Student Services. This position ensures data integrity within the International Student Services Office, runs reports, maintains federal immigration systems and databases, ensures compatibility with internal USC systems, and serves as a liaison between International Student Services and other key stakeholders on campus. The Strategic Technology Initiatives Specialist will have facility in information technology systems and database management, and will apply detailed attention and organization to the task of data management and reporting. The Strategic Technology Initiatives Specialist is responsible for many reporting duties that are crucial to maintaining immigration compliance as well as office reporting requirements. This position is also responsible for managing the International Student and Scholar Management software (ISSM, formerly fsaATLAS). ISSM is the batch system that allows the ISS Office to maintain SEVIS records and that interfaces with the university’s student record database, Banner. This position is responsible for managing the International Student Services Website through the utilization of USC’s content management system, as well as for managing the systematic processes in place for communication with students and stakeholders. The Strategic Technology Initiatives Specialist will be adept in communication with diverse cultures and backgrounds. The Strategic Technology Initiatives Specialist reports directly to the Associate Director of International Student Services. Candidate must be motivated, analytical, and be able to work independently. Candidate must demonstrate high levels of motivations and work ethic. This position requires problem-solving skills and creativity. Candidate must demonstrate strong communication skills; the ability to coordinate and prioritize competing tasks; the ability to establish and maintain effective working relations with the general public; and the ability to work as a team member. The ability to deal effectively with handling inquiries and the ability to communicate effectively with a culturally diverse clientele is critical. Candidate must be detail-oriented in working with databases and applications.
