A CSR professional, a nonprofit Executive Director and an HR manager walk into a cafe– what happens next is your job! Taproot is seeking a creative, scrappy, go-getter who can innovate on the organization’s current corporate partnerships strategy and bring in additional funds in support of the organization. Taproot looks to develop new and multi-layered partnerships with the corporate sector that create expanded sponsorships, consulting engagements and funded leadership vehicles for the pro bono movement
This individual reports to the Chief External Relations Officer and works closely with the External Relations and Advisory Services departments to grow high dollar opportunities from the corporate sector. This individual has direct fundraising responsibilities with a particular focus on central and southern US markets as well as a shared ownership for Taproot’s overall budget. In addition to fundraising, the candidate will develop strategic partnerships that support and advance Taproot’s organizational reputation.
Key Responsibilities include:
Responsible for developing and executing a fundraising plan (including prospecting, cultivation, grant-writing and grant management) that supports the business development goals for the organization.
Develop and implement a strategy for corporate-funded programs that expands revenue particularly with the use of sponsorship and event-based programming.
Collaborate with the Advisory Services team to ensure successfully implementation of leadership and sponsorship initiatives.
Collaborate with the Program team to ensure successfully implementation of funded programs.
Create innovative partnerships and coalitions with business, university, and civic sectors that develop the market and expand the accessibility of pro bono resources.
Identify and secure external speaking platforms in the central and southern region that build the organization’s brand and positioning.
Attend external events to represent Taproot in the community.
Ensure the overall marketing, branding, and revenue goals of the External Relations department are met on an annual basis.
Oversee ongoing improvements to internal systems (Salesforce, Intranet, etc.) through participation in cross-functional performance improvement systems and teams.
Direct process improvements related to nationalizing business development efforts including prospecting, grant-writing, module development and reporting.
Manage full-time and intern staff as needed.
7+ years of fundraising experience with a focus on corporate partnerships
Proven success securing grants, sponsorships, and revenue
Experience in building revenue and strategic partnerships that support a national brand.
Excellent writing/editing and verbal communication skills;
Highly-motivated self-starter; comfortable working independently and taking external sales meetings independently
A strong track record as an implementer who thrives on managing a variety of key initiatives concurrently;
Sincere commitment to work collaboratively with all constituent groups, including staff, board members, nonprofits, business professionals, corporations and sector partners.
Proficiency in Microsoft Word and a working knowledge of Salesforce
You may also have:
Bachelor’s degree in English, journalism or equivalent business or nonprofit experience;
Experience in consultative sales, business development and enterprise platforms sales strategy
Familiarity with design programs (InDesign, PhotoShop)
