The Technical Support Specialist provides standard installation and maintenance to users regarding workplace endpoint technology. He/she diagnoses and resolves user problems, questions and inquiries utilizing hardware and software testing tools and techniques. The Support Specialist will coordinate standard projects, working closely with peers and users to deliver optimum service. ADD: The Technical Support Specialist must be knowledgeable in all aspects of computer support, diligent, and analytical; they also must possess outstanding communication skills. The IT support specialist is not only a technical worker but often deals directly with the customer, offering advice, training, solutions, and guidance. ADD: This position reports to the Weinberg College Information Technology group and provides primary support to the Department of Economics. The department is looking for a Technical Support Specialist with strong technical skills focused on customer service.
Hardware and software installation, configuration and support for faculty and staff desktop, laptop computers and mobile devices.
Windows, Mac and Linux based computer systems support.

ADD: Classroom technology troubleshooting with support of Academic and Research Technologies team
ADD: Maintains computers in graduate lab
ADD: Maintains hardware supplies and coordinates recycling of old equipment
Please note: Business hours are 8:30am-5:00pm. It is expected that employee is able to physically move equipment such as computers and monitors; carts are made available as needed.
Tracks individual progress on endpoint technology initiatives and provides regular updates to Department leadership.
Partners with users on projects utilizing IT units’ systems to meet specific user goals.

Creates and maintains user documentation.
Add: Responds to support requests assisting users with resolving technology related isues or with the use of computer hardware and software
Installs, repairs and adjusts workplace endpoint technology using standard tools and test equipment while following established procedures.
Performs routine preventive maintenance tasks in accordance with established practices.
Diagnoses and resolves complex problems, questions and inquiries encountered by users according to established practices
ADD: Provides an advanced level of troubleshooting support in response to complex problems, questions and inquiries.

Successful completion of a full 2-year course of study in an accredited college or university leading to an associate's or higher degree; OR appropriate combination of education and experience.
2 years IT, CS user support or other relevant experience required.
Infrastructure: active directory design, administration. Box Collaborative Storage, information security, Linux Operating System, Mac OS X Operating System, Microsoft Exchange, Microsoft Lync, Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Powerpoint, Access, Outlook), Skype, Windows Operating System.
Analytical: critical thinking, decision making, problem solving, Troubleshooting.

ADD: Successful completion of a full 4-year course of study in an accredited college or university leading to a bachelor's or higher degree in a major such as computer science, information technology, or related; OR appropriate combination of education and experience.
Preferred Competencies: (Skills, knowledge, and abilities)
Experience with using enterprise computer management systems (e.g. Dell KACE, Symantec Altiris, and Microsoft System Center).
Experience coordinating with multiple service partners and providers, preferably in a distributed organization.
Experience working with faculty, students, and staff in an academic setting.
