The Director of Institutional Research is a senior level position with responsibilities to perform management duties for the Institutional Research and Data Analysis Department. Individual reports to the Vice President of Educational and Student Support Services and supervises staff in the IR department.
EXAMPLES OF ESSENTIAL DUTIES Ensures compliance with assigned federal and state reporting requirements and performance indicators. Provides data for regional and state accreditation requirements. Performs research through data gathering, analysis, and project management. Completes a variety of external surveys and requests for data. Performs institutional analysis to evaluate programs and activities, identifies trends, and facilitates administrative decision making. Conducts institutional studies by collecting and analyzing data to provide information and document performance. Develops and/or uses tools for predictive analytics. Provides institutional services and staff support for the database system by designing and installing standardized queries and reports. Provides consultation to other institutional departments on research methodology, data management, data analysis, data interpretation, and compliance reporting.
Under limited direction, directs, coordinates, and implements activities to collect and analyze data that the college uses to drive institutional decision making and that is uses in internal and external reporting. Performs other duties as assigned.

Minimum qualifications & Requirements
Knowledge of: Computer Information Systems and Business Management principles involved in predictive analytics, research, data analysis, strategic planning, production methods, and coordination of people and resources. Knowledge of relational databases and information gathering principles to develop and monitor performance indicators, knowledge of Banner, Microsoft applications, Cognos or similar reporting tools, statistical software, and other tools. Ability to: Coordinate and evaluate the activities of personnel by identifying measures of system performance and the actions needed to improve performance. Establish operational policies and procedures and efficient work processes. Education: The equivalent of a Master's Degree in computer information systems, mathematics, statistics, higher education administration, educational research or business administration preferred; bachelor's degree required.. Experience: Five years experience in IT research and relational database tools required; higher education institutional research experience preferred.
PHYSICAL TASKS AND ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS –Work involves sedentary to light work in an office setting. There is frequent sitting, with walking, standing and stooping occasionally required. There is an occasional need to lift objects (up to 20 pounds) and perform other similar actions during the course of the workday.
