Description Vanderbilt University Information Technology (VUIT) has an exciting opportunity for a Fall 2017 Cloud Engineer Intern. This Cloud Engineer Internship is an opportunity for college juniors, seniors, and graduate students interested in obtaining personal exposure in higher education by serving in an internship allowing the individual to gain broad exposure to and develop a better understanding of the variety of operations and services within the defined department at Vanderbilt. The focus of this internship will be on engineering and administration of cloud computing data analytics tools, as well as Cloud engineering and deployment with Amazon Web Services (AWS.) This will include, but is not limited to, provisioning servers (EC2 Instances), provisioning storage (S3 Buckets), and provisioning Virtual Private Clouds and RDS. What skills should the intern have prior to starting this project? * Has studied Linux/Unix operating systems Has studied cloud computing and IaaS/PaaS cloud providers services, i.e. Amazon Web Services, Google Compute Platform, Microsoft Azure Has studied data analytics, database administration, data structures Has studied scripting i.e. Python, Bash, Perl Has studied continuous integration, deployment and release management Strong desire to learn new technologies and explore new and creative ways to solve problems What skills are desired for the position, but not necessary? Has experience with Linux/Unix operating systems Has experience with cloud computing and IaaS/PaaS cloud providers services, i.e. Amazon Web Services, Google Compute Platform, Microsoft Azure Has experience with data analytics, database administration, data structures Has experience with scripting i.e. Python, Bash, Perl Has experience with continuous integration, deployment and release management What skills will the intern gain from completing this project?
