Reporting to the Executive Director of Business Services, leads and manages the daily operations of the Business Services Finance and Administration business section, established as a shared service center which provides a full range of centralized fiscal and business support to the nine departments within AVP – Administration. Develop and implement financial, administrative and personnel policies and procedures for the management area that are consistent with established state and university systems. Develop and manage annual operating budgets for 11 budgets ($30 mil), prepare short and long-term forecasts for revenue and expenses for financial planning. Serve as a liaison to coordinate all financial activity with the other university units as needed. Evaluate departmental programs by applying knowledge of research methodology; statistical and analytical techniques to validate current programs and explore methods for future improvement. Manage the full-time staff consisting of two business managers, one financial analyst, one reconciliation specialist, one wage fiscal technician and 1-2 seasonal employees.
- Advanced degree in Business, Accounting, Finance, Management or related field or equivalent combination of education and experience managing business operations. - Financial work experience in a university or similar large de-centralized company. - Knowledge of the principles and practices of budget formulation, evaluation, and execution; accounting practices and procedures; accepted business practices. - Demonstrated leadership skills and substantial work experience in supervisory role of a business unit. - High level of proficiency with Microsoft word-processing, spreadsheet, and database software. - Ability to communicate and interact effectively with management, co-workers, subordinates, and the public. - Excellent organizational and time management skills. - Strong analytical and problem solving skills.
- Familiarity with university policies and procedures - Related work experience in a large, public institution or similar environment - Demonstrated thorough understanding of higher education finance and business operations - Previous experience budgeting for an auxiliary enterprise - Experience with Banner Finance.
