Reporting to the Chief Medical Officer, the National VP Medical Operations- MedExpress will be responsible for incorporating the company vision into the organizational strategy of the medical operations. The primary focus will be to maintain and build a high performing physician organization across this multi-site organization. They will have accountability for delivering results within provider engagement, clinical efficiency, patient satisfaction, and drive quality across the operational platform. The National VP will also have responsibility for MedExpress' adherence to all clinical medical policies, directives, rules, regulations and clinical performance standards of the states, the federal government, and accrediting bodies. They will serve as the company's ultimate authority on medical issues and will provide professional medical services as appropriate and other related work, as designated by the Chief Medical Officer.As a member of the leadership team, this National VP will function as a nimble, high performing leader and effective team player striving to contribute valuable ideas and feedback while meeting constant numerous time critical demands. They will be relied upon to persevere in driving and sustaining the changes and growth that occur at MedExpress and be resilient, flexible, and motivating the organizational team. Primary Responsibilities:Responsible for the direct supervision of the 4 Regional Medical Directors Responsible for oversight of the Practice Manager and subsequent areas of focus including provider scheduling, paid-time-off, CME, provider bonus payouts, and staffing levels Recommends innovative solutions to enable aggressive growth and scale the provider organization with a sense of urgency and quality Drives Quality Assurance standards across the company for the provider organization and oversees the activities of the medical staff in accordance with ethical standards and overall policies of the Center Drives business development within target markets including Corporate Care, onsite, workers compensation, occupational medicine, telemedicine, population health management and other unique delivery models Demonstrates healthcare thought leadership and builds sustainable relationships internally and externally across the healthcare ecosystem Represent the Corporation in community organization activities and other outside entities including payer and provider organizations Reviews the activities of the medical staff in accordance with ethical standards and overall policies Schedules interdisciplinary meetings with medical and support staff to ensure quality patient care Provides the final medical decision on medical issues when disputes arise Formulates policies and objectives for medical programs and communicates these policies to appropriate staff for execution within an integrated team case management approach Provides consultation as needed with daily involvement in developing recruiting, retention and training Develops strategies to ensure a high performing physician organization and excellence in patient care Assists in the development and presentation of the clinical activities budget, including staffing, support plan, and equipment needs projections Prepares and recommends qualifications statements for credentialing, job descriptions, and evaluation standard for all clinical personnel including assessing growth, labor model to deliver scale and leverage and drive consistency in healthcare delivery across the platform Advises on health information system needs; develops, recommends, and conduct special studies of health needs and priorities, interpret clinical data Leads/participates in periodic review of practice management functions, e.g. reception, telephone triage, patient flow, outreach services, laboratory, follow-up on missed appointments, referral tracking, etc. Reviews patient satisfaction survey and aligns operational strategy to drive increasing patient satisfaction; functions as escalation point for patient complaints Arranges and conducts regular meetings of clinical providers Provides clear direction to achieve goals, creating an environment that fosters team commitment and employee engagement
Required Qualifications:MD or DO 10+ years medical leadership experience in medical/healthcare Demonstrated record of building high performing teams; highly engaged, collaborative leader Urgent Care experience or retail clinical experience highly preferred Licensed, Board Certified Physician Family or Emergency Medicine certification highly preferred Leadership for multiple sites highly preferred Meet all credentialing requirements to perform clinical duties An understanding of clinical quality it linkages with operational quality Understanding of project management and workflow concepts strongly preferred Careers with Optum.
