UCLA’s Department of Microbiology, Immunology and Molecular Genetics (MIMG) is seeking to fill an Assistant Researcher position. The Assistant Researcher will perform independent research in bioinformatics data analysis and computational modeling as related to immunerelated clinical, animal model, and basic science studies. The Assistant Researcher may function as Co-Investigator or Principal Investigator on intra-mural or extra-mural grants and as mentor for staff, postdoctoral or student researchers. The Assistant Researcher position is a 12 month non-Senate position.
UCLA David Geffen School of Medicine faculty are undertaking several large systems biology and genomics studies involving cohorts of patients and mouse models of immune related diseases; these represent a fertile ecosystem for collaborative studies involving data analysis, data driven modeling, and knowledge –based mechanistic models. Aside from the MIMG department, the Institute for Quantitative and Computational Biosciences (QCBio) and the QCB Collaboratory (http://qcb.ucla.edu) provide intellectual and administrative support.
Specific responsibilities and required qualifications:
Lead the bioinformatics and data analysis research of current collaborative projects involving Professors from the Departments of MIMG, Pathology, Biostatistics.
Summarize and Present findings for in person or phone/skype discussions
Interface with other NIH-funded project consortia
Lead or assist in the development of manuscripts
Lead or assist in the development of additional extra-mural funding
Competitive applicants will have PhD degree in a bioscience discipline, and a minimum of 3 years’ of research experience in computational biology or bioinformatics. Rank and salary will be commensurate with expertise and prior experience.
